So today I had gone to my favorite camera store well.. one of three only on the island (and also sadly the only with great customer service) and had bought me some Close-up Lenses.. now like the title say's its not like a true macro BUT the usefullness of these lenses and quality would keep you at bay from actually buying a dedicated Macro Lens, coming in different sizes i got a +1, +2, and +4 well actually strengths i should say, generally what it does is reduce the minimum focusing distance of your current lens, say like my Canon 50mm 1.4 USM which is about 1.5' (.45m) im not sure how much each one reduces the minimum focusing distance but i can tell you THIS is a huge difference
(Again about the IQ when using 1 or 2 stacked with of course a deep DoF like F/8 its not too noticeable, but for you TRUE macro enthusiats maybe it is.)
Pros:
If your interested into macro photography and not willing to shell out $400-$500+ then this is the cheapest option.
Pretty light-weight and a great addition to your collection of filters. (rather then carrying another lens body around)
Gives you a great start to understanding Macro Photography while still being affordable.
Cons:
Stacking does reduce image Quality by a small margin if your stacking all of them together (usually 2 would suffice)
More exspensive close-up lenses would yeald better IQ but then again you may as well save for that macro dedicated lens if your gonna drop money on it. (Hoya and cano usually run about $100 each or less).
Macro Photography does need a slight learning curve considering you do ned to shoot at Deep DoF which means smaller aperture and needing more light for your subject>
stacking would increase that amount of light needed.
Overall im really happy i decided to purchase these close-ups and can't wait to really use them
anyhow i hope to upload some new deviations soon!
